[the official announcement v1.0// release date::22-Aug-2001 : v1.1 update//06-Sep-2001 after some time, there will be the Scene Strike again. the Scene Strike 5 will be held in Belgrade, on Sep 21-23, 2001. s s 5 c o n t e n t s:: - competition. - concert by Serbian electronic musicians and groups, mostly from the demo scene - including live performances and DJ sets, with realtime demo mix on the video projector. - non-stop screening revues of the demo scene from its roots on C64 and Spectrum, to the most influential groups throughout the scene's history, to the latest production from the most recent world demo parties. - screenings of the videos made for electronic labels (WARP, NINJA TUNE), for various electronic musicians like COLDCUT, APHEX TWIN, AUTECHRE, SQUAREPUSHER, EBN and others who are among the scene's sources of inspiration. - screenings of lo and hi budget films, with the special premiere revue of the best short films from the 4th Yugoslav Cheap Film Festival (in collaboration with LOW-FI VIDEO from Belgrade). s s 5 s c h e d u l e:: [FRIDAY//Sep21//2001] 13:00 - reception 15:00 - demo and video screenings 19:00 - official start of the event 20:00 - films from the 4th YCFF [thanks to the LOW-FI VIDEO] 23:00 - concert and party [SATURDAY//Sep22//2001] 14:00 - COMPETITION DEADLINE for all categories 15:00 - demo and video screenings 20:00 - COMPETITION [screening of the submitted works by categories] [SUNDAY//Sep23//2001] around 00h - film surprise around 02h - award ceremony party continues on during the night and early morning hours... all the SS5 events will take place at the first floor of the Belgrade Youth Cultural Centre [BYCC - Dom omladine Beograda]. c o m p e t i t i o n:: following the tradition, the competition is conceived by technical categories. the SS5 will receive works in these categories: m u s i c: - 4channel [ format: PT MOD exclusively. 700kb max filesize ] - multichannel [ format: XM, MOD, IT, MED, DBM. 2mb max filesize ] - mp3 [ format: mp3 or ogg. 10mb max filesize ] g r a p h i c s: - pixel graphics [ format: 640x512, 256 clrs, IFF, GIF, PNG ] - truecolor graphics [ format: 800x600, 24bit, PNG, JPG, TIFF/LZW ] - raytrace graphics [ format: 800x600, 24bit, PNG, JPG, TIFF/LZW ] - ascii [ format: 80x24 characters ISO ] d e m o: - intro [ 64k max, windows/dos [pc], aga [amiga] ] - demo [ 10mb max, windows/dos [pc], aga [amiga] ] - wild [ VHS, AVI, MPEG, ANIM, COMPUTER, other... ] directly supported platforms are pc and amiga, but the works from the other platforms [mac, sgi...] will also be accepted, if they fit in any of the categories. 4channel category is protracker only - acceptable are only moduls playable by the standard protracker 2.3b. moduls can be made on pc too, but must meet the conditions usual for this format. 4channel moduls will be presented from amiga with hippoplayer. multichannel category will be presented from pc with the latest version of modplug player, except DBM and MED formats which will be presented from amiga. graphics categories will be presented from pc with ACDSee, except ascii compo which will be presented from amiga with CED editor using standard system font. the recommended format for the wild category is vhs. alternatively, some of the compo machines can be used as the player for the animations in some amiga or pc format. if your work requires some special player/hardware [not mentioned here], you must provide it for the needs of your presentation and inform us about that before the beginning of the party in order to organise proper screening. the SS5 will award the best works in each of demo categories. the money from the tickets sold for the SS5 will make the demo award fund. eligible for the demo competition are the works made by the artists being physically present at the SS5. the works by the other artists will be presented at the SS5 screenings, but will not participate in competitions. c o m p o m a c h i n e s:: pc: celeron2 @ 633 [950] + 256MB RAM Inno3D GeForce2MX TVOut [32MB] SB Live! and Gravis Ultrasound [512k] WIN98SE amiga: amiga 1200 + blizzard 1260 [060/50] + 32mb fastmem + AGA c o n t a c t:: SS5 www: http://www.crsn.com/ss5 [plus the hidden part] corrosion www: http://www.crsn.com email: corrosion@yubc.net domin8r@amigascne.org phone: +381(0)63-8229-844 [mobile] +381(0)11-3440-571 [fixed] c r e d i t s:: Scene Strike Five - Warming Up! is a part of the Medi@terra 2001 International Art & Technology Festival: http://www.mediaterra.org SS5 is organized by corrosion and BYCC.
