Was passiert?

Ende des Jahres findet in Genf der erste UN-Weltgipfel statt, der sich mit
dem Thema Informationsgesellschaft beschäftigt. 2005 folgt dann in Tunis
der zweite Teil des Gipfel-Prozesses.

Hierzu möchten wir ein deutschlandweites Bündnis der kritischen
Zivilgesellschaft nach Vorbild der Umweltbewegung zu schaffen, welches die
gemeinsamen Vorstellungen und Visionen einer Informations- und
Wissensgesellschaft artikuliert, in den Gipfel-Prozess mit einbringt und
vor allem Öffentlichkeit für uns wichtige Positionen schafft.

Punkte für eine Tagesordnung, die wir vorschlagen, sind:

- Monitoring - was läuft auf globaler Ebene ab, wer sind die Player,
was haben sie vor?u.a. Bericht von den ersten beiden pan-europäischen
Vorbereitungskonferenzen (Prepcoms)
- Wie kann der Prozess genutzt werden, um eine engere Zusammenarbeit
der kritischen Zivilgesellschaft im Bereich  Netzpolitik/Medien zu schaffen?
-  Wie kann die Aufmerksamkeit wärend des Gipfels genutzt werden, um
"alternative" Themen wie Bürgerrechte, Informationsfreiheit und Freie
Software in  die Öffentlichkeit zu transportieren?

Ergänzungen werden gerne angenommen.

hi, this might become an interesting get-together within two
weeks for the german speaking among us. bootlab is offering
it's space to have a better info-exchange about the current
agenda building process helping to translate the NGO speak.

Invitation for a nation-wide networking meeting for the
UN-world summit for the Information Society (WSIS)

What happens?

At the end of this year there will be the first UN-Worldsummit in Geneva,
which is dedicated to the topic of the information society. 2005 the second
part of the summit process will follow in Tunis.
For this we want to create a german Coalition for the critical civil society
after the example of the environmental movement, which articulates the
common beliefs and visions of a information and knowledge society, brings
it into the summit-process and creates most of all a public for positions
which are important for us.


* monitoring - what happens on a global level, who are the players,
what's their agenda?

* report of the first and second pan-european prep-meetings

* how can the process be used to achieve a more firm collaboration
of the critical civil society in the area of net and media politics?

* how can the attention be used during the meeting in geneva to transport
"alternative" themes like civil rights, information freedom and free software
into the public.

* additional topics are gladly accepted
