[Nettime-ro] GAP #6 Call for Papers: Art, Gender and Sexuality |
*Please scroll down for the English version Ãn interiorul miÈcÄrii feministe, la nivel mondial, arta a jucat un rol important Ãn structurarea Èi dezvoltarea unui discurs critic care a zdruncinat inegalitÄÈile fundamentale dintre femei Èi bÄrbaÈi. DacÄ o parte a feminismului neoliberal a ajuns Ãn *mainstream*, feminismul radical Èi*queer*, rÄmÃne marginal atÃt Ãn societate, cÃt Èi pe scena artisticÄ. AdresÄ de contact:gazeta@artapolitica.ro http://artapolitica.ro/ _________ Within the ranks of the global feminist movement, art has played an important part in structuring and developing a critical discourse which has shattered the fundamental inequalities between women and men. Initially focused on claims for judicial regulation and political rights for white, heterosexual women, the feminist discourse â or to put it more accurately, some radical feminist positions â also focuses on sexual and gender minorities. The need to question the state-endorsed heteronormativity joined forces with the freedom from the patriarchal logic and sexism: âUntil all of us are free, all of us are prisonersâ is the premise for practices deriving from the sphere of queer, anti-racist and anti-transphobic feminist discourses. Alongside feminism, sexual revolution and LGBT activism (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) become important stakes in achieving equality in contemporary societies. Issue #6 of *Gazeta de Art**Ä PoliticÄ* aims to investigate artistic projects and theoretical reflections which make visible the following: - Marginal discourses on sexual orientation and gender identity, approached from a perspective which is critical of mainstream heteronormative discourse; - A critique of consumerist public representations which privilege a hyper-sexualized image of a âwoman-accessoryâ, visible only if she is manifestly sexual; - Groups oppressed due to exhibiting sexual habits different from the behavioral norm imposed by Christian morals and coercive social rules; - The rights of sexual and gender minorities. If part of neoliberal feminism has entered the mainstream, radical and queer feminism remains marginal both in society and the art scene. Issue #6 of *Gazeta de Art**Ä PoliticÄ* â* Art Gender and Sexuality *â aims to scrutinize cultural and artistic projects, queer feminist discourses and emancipatory perspectives on sexuality and gender identity.
