New position opening: researcher with Corporate Europe Observatory Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) is looking for a researcher to join us from February 1st 2006. Are you concerned about the growing political influence of corporate lobby groups in EU capital Brussels? Do you have passion and talent for investigative journalism? Then you may be the right candidate to join our team! Responsibilities include: - conducting research on issues within CEO's work program, with a focus on corporate political power on the EU level; - presenting research findings in articles, briefings and other publications; - identify and pursue opportunities for media coverage and other outreach; - feed the communications loop within CEO and the civil society networks we work in with relevant information on key research topics. We expect you to bring: - significant experience in critical research and writing; - experience in campaigning for social and environmental justice; - substantial knowledge of European Union decision-making processes and key EU policies; - excellent writing and presentation skills; - ability to work closely with others in a team, in an often high- pressured environment; - ability to think analytically and plan strategically, in a results- oriented manner; - ability to manage own workload without close supervision; - computer skills; - fluent English (French is an asset). Journalistic experience will be considered an advantage. This is full time position of 35 hours per week, starting February 1st (or as soon as possible after that) for a nine-month period (to be prolonged pending fund-raising). You will work from the CEO office in Amsterdam, but also spend a lot of time in Brussels. The position is open to applicants of any nationality, but candidates have to be eligible to get a work permit in the European Union. The net salary is between 1,050 - 1,500 euro per month (depending on experience). Closing date for applications: Wednesday January 11 2006 noon.
