Their work combines digital computer data with analog signals and often has the look and feel of craftsmanship. The elements of chance and system failures are consciously being allowed. The sound tracks are characterized by contradictions, when the music may sound both mesmerizing and violent, both minimal and maximal. Video works for a.o.: Christian Vogel, DAT Politics, the musical nights of WARP (UK). Music projects on labels such as Hot Air and Lucky Kitchen. Much of their work was released on the compilation Hi-Fi Rise: Sonic cities from another timeline (DVD/CD-ROM) More information on: www.semiconductorfilms.org game of mobile forces with Anton Aeki, Joris Cool, Anouk de Clercq (B) game of mobile forces is a dialogue wherein live images flirt and blend with live music, using the new software Touch 101, a 3D program that lets the user create a figure and link deliberately chosen parameters within the image to consciously defined sound frequencies. The result is an interesting field of tension between man and technology, transcending the intrinsic boundaries of image and sound as disciplines. More information on: www.portapak.be make belief Kurt's brain video presentation by Captain Video (NL) The main character in make belief a project by Captain Video and DJ Steffi is Kurt Russell, Hollywood’s most anonymous star. The images are taken from films in which Kurt Russell acted between the age of 12 and 51. The selection depicts the life of a schizophrenic character, playing a game with the ‘cause and effect’ of Hollywood images. Captain Video is a collective that does live video performances and makes films and video productions. Collaborative efforts of members of Captain Video have resulted in projects like short films, video clips and live video for theater and dance performances, as well as leaders, bumpers and other designs for TV shows.
