[Nettime-bold] Bad Day: BANNED SONGS ** |
At BBC London Live radio last week, I was intrigued to hear producers changing the playlist while on air. References to New York were completely out (no Lou Reed, then), as well as the usual subject matter: planes, heaven, hell, war. This informal policy continues. A spokesman for Radio 1 has stated that there is no policy of banning records (the stock BBC response). "When something like this happens, you make sure your output suits the mood of your listeners," he said. "We have reviewed our playlist daily. We dropped all features last week so we had straight links, music, and Newsbeat updates." Radio Two has been playing a lot of Hot Chocolate.
