1. IS A CALL FOR CLARITY AND CONTEXT IN NETTIME POSTS REALLY A TROJAN HORSE FOR A CULTURAL-CONSERVATIVE AGENDA WHOSE ULTIMATE GOAL IS THE IMPOSITION OF SOUL-SHRIVELING GRAMMATICAL AND STYLISTIC STANDARDS INTENDED TO SUFFOCATE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, AVANT-GARDE INNOVATION, AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY (BE IT AFRICAN-AMERICAN, DIASPORIC, FEMINIST, NON-ANGLOPHONIC "ENGLISHES," OR WHATEVER)? i do not think so. though i have been hesitant to respond as i feel i lack the wit and vocabulary to accurately express my opinion, i think mark's request was a simple one: context would have been nice. i too was a bit confused by "no people" and considering the fact that the writer had such a specific stimulus in writing it, i think it only fair that the reader be clued in 'cos the inspiration for this piece was not made any more obvious by READING the piece multiple times. camille http://www.geocities.com/camillesname __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
